The Finance, Accounting and Legal functions are essential to the smooth running of any company. Often associated with the support departments of organizations, they play a real cementing role in the structuring of these organizations. Depending on company size (micro, small and large) and core business, the professional players involved in these sectors are not the same.
For example, the larger a company tends to grow, the more it will be looking for specialized profiles able to respond to very specific issues.
The same applies to other business sectors.
Law firms will not have the same recruitment needs as companies operating in other sectors.
Finance, otherwise known as financial management, is responsible for all a company’s financial operations. Positions in this sector are key to a company’s success. The challenge for them is to master all financial and accounting operations.
There are many different professions that can operate in this sector: management controllers, administrative and financial managers, administrative and financial directors, and so on.
Each of them plays a predefined role upstream, and missions may differ according to the size of the company and its sector of activity. For example, an accountant working in car parts sales will have a totally different way of managing his or her job than an accountant working for a company in the real estate sector.
Often associated with lawyers and barristers, the legal world is vast and not limited to these positions.
Many companies call on the services of legal experts and lawyers to ensure that their work complies with the various standards. They advise and protect their company’s interests. They specialize in all aspects of business law: corporate law, contract law, labor law, etc.
The legal world also includes notaries, notary assistants and legal secretaries.
The accounting department manages all transactions with a monetary value carried out within a company.
A company’s accounting system can be either in-house or outsourced. In both cases, there are several levels in an accounting department.
At a first level, accounting assistants handle data entry, tax and VAT declarations, and document preparation.
Accounting assistants then take on more responsibilities than accounting assistants: reviewing files, balance sheets and tax returns, making appointments with customers…
Then come the project managers, who are more experienced than the accountants and manage the projects. In addition to their technical knowledge, project managers need to master management skills in order to successfully complete the projects entrusted to them.
The group manager supervises all team members, and is the point of contact between the chartered accountant and the various collaborators. In addition to these tasks, they must also manage a customer portfolio!
Finally, the chartered accountant manages a portfolio of complex or group files. He also supervises associates and canvasses for new clients.
